3:00 PM - 4:00 PM    Odyssey of the Mind - OM Division I
Odyssey of the Mind is an international creative problem-solving program that engages students in their learning by allowing their knowledge and ideas to come to life in an exciting, productive environment. Participants build self-confidence, develop life skills, create new friendships, and are able to recognize and explore their true potential. OotM proves that students can have fun while they learn. OotM is closely tied to the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) skills being taught in the schools. All OotM solutions require students to perform, not just the sciences, but the arts as well – whether it be set-building, costume-making, creating props, acting, singing, or playing an instrument. These skills are important to create a balanced education. Because they are doing something fun, students are eager to perform and develop self-confidence and public speaking skills along the way. Many participants credit their success to Odyssey of the Mind. Because different elements are involved within each problem, OotM brings together kids with varying interests that often form life-long friendships.Teams will be forming in October. Watch for School Announcements for Open House dates and times. Teams consist of 5-7 kids. Days and Times Based on Team/Coach. There is a State tournament on March 23rd at Noble High School. Teams coming in first or second at States qualify to attend World Finals (this year at Iowa State University in late May). There are four divisions: Primary (K-2) which is non-competitive. Divisions I (3-5), II (6-8) and III (9-12). More information can be found at www.odysseyofthemind.comThis program is run in coordination with WOCSD and Keith Borkowski.
